Safety

Agate values its employees and makes safety a top priority.

We have in place a comprehensive job site safety program where the main objective is to instill in every employee (field as well as office) the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

On March 9, 2005, Agate was presented By the New Jersey Department of Transportation with the Work Zone Safety Award for Traffic Control Coordination on our Rt. 40 / Malaga Lake Dam Reconstruction project. In addition, Mark Banner was also presented an individual award for his outstanding role in Traffic Control Coordination.

Agate’s commitment to safety extends from top management down to field personnel. Project managers complete a 30-hour OSHA Safety Training course and we also sponsor CPR/First Aid and Traffic Control Coordinator classes. In addition, weekly Job Hazard Analysis discussions are conducted as well as Toolbox Talks with all field personnel. OSHA safety training sessions, safety audits and incident monitoring occurs throughout the year.

We also welcome frequent job-site visits from safety professionals employed by our insurance carrier. This allows expert, outside opinions to showcase any areas where we can improve.
